Packaging waste and food waste are major targets of the studies using econometric methods and social experiments. Although reduction is the issue with top priority among the 3Rs of waste management (Reduce, Reuse, and Recycle), little practical progress has been achieved in the policy. For example, lesser use of packaging in products may make the product inconspicuous compared to rival products, so it is not easy for producers to choose a smaller package. The theme is all the more interesting because it is challenging. Lectures and Seminars Teaching Experience ESD course (Faculty of Economics) (Undergraduate)Kobe University provides an educational program with the purpose of training students to take a leading role in contributing to the creation of a sustainable society. This program (Education for Sustainable Development) is a joint effort of the entire Kobe University. In the faculty of Economics, we provide courses in the form of ESD exercises 1& 2, an introductory course in social communications, and a practical course in environmental NPO business models (close 2018). These classes adopt a workshop style and field exercises. Message The ESD course has been designated as an advanced liberal arts course. Enhanced development of social skills and visions is expected through interaction with students and faculty members from various departments and fields. Experiencing active discussion within groups with diversity is encouraged.
